Getting Started with Workplace Learning

Learn how to get started with work-based learning/internships and apprenticeships.

Work-based Learning/Internships

  • Review opportunities.

Workplace Learning is approved in more than 40 academic programs (PDF). Often, academic programs that aren’t listed have other opportunities for students to engage in hands-on experience.

  • Advertise your open positions.

For paid internships, Handshake is the best way for employers to post positions at no charge.

For unpaid internships, complete this form to capture the primary items our students are often seeking when applying for job opportunities.

  • Inform us once your position is posted.

Let Workplace Learning know once your position is posted. From here, our team will review and share it with students in related academic programs.

  • Initiate your company's hiring process.

Hiring a student mirrors the hiring process for a new employee. Once interested students apply to the position, you will interview and select the student(s) whom you consider to be the best match according to the needs of your company.

The Workplace Learning department will work with student and employer to follow academic processes if a student is combining their work experience with academic credit. Please note: Workplace Learning does not guarantee applicants nor an assigned student.

Apprenticeships

Central Piedmont has two registered apprenticeship models: employer-sponsored and college-sponsored. To determine which model best fits your business needs, email Workplace Learning and/or contact your ApprenticeshipNC representative.
