Dental Assisting
Dental assistants are part of a dental team. They perform chairside, office, and laboratory duties during dental treatment. Central Piedmont Community College offers a one-year diploma program in dental assisting. This credential gives graduates a quick entry into the dental field.
What You Will Learn
This accredited program will train you to become a well-rounded dental assistant. You will learn how to collect diagnostic data, patient data, and records, as well as handle office responsibilities. Additionally, you’ll be available to perform various supporting treatments for the patient. You will gain knowledge of infection/hazard control, radiography, dental materials, preventive dentistry, head and neck anatomy, dental and medical emergencies, and clinical procedures.
Graduates of the program are eligible to take the Dental Assisting National Board Examination to gain certification. Dental offices and related facilities often require certification.
